Striking Sermon On Religion

The Bishop of Victoria, Right Rev. R. Owen Bail, commenced his special mission to Kowloon yesterday morning when he de- livered a striking sermon on "The Heart of Religion" to a full congregation in St. Andrew's Church.

The Bishop commented that there were two religions com- Deting for the souls of men, and one of them was a religion of sacrilism which flourished in many European countries, notably perhaps in Russia, and its followers believed that something in- evitable would happen in this world and in that faith one would And men killing their best friends for the sake of national order. [To the Editor, "The Hong Kong Daily Press."}

Dear Sir,

Religion is ours; It is not some thing we believe, or think, or do The heart of religion is God, what God is and what God does. Jesus in the heart of religion because He is the heart of God, active amongst the sons of men. The prayer He had used is very near to the heart of religion because it is our answer to that activity of God. God has given us leadership and friendship through Jesus Christ who has called us to obey Bim so that we may do His will day by day,

It is well that we shall at this time take stock of the world In which we live and of what is hap-` pening in It

Someone has said, and it is a fair description of the world in which we live, that there are two religions and only two, competing for the souls of men. One is dying and other is just in the first vigour of early birth.

**NATIONAL ORDER The latter is a religion of sacri- lism which flourishes in many European countries, notably, per- haps in Russia in which followers believe that something inevitable would happen in this world and in ing their best friends for the sake that faith you will and men kill-

of national order.
