LESS EMPTY FLATS During the year, especially the summer months, we had a consi- derable number of "empty flats on our hands, and these vacancies were largely responsible for our heavier repair bill as it is nearly always necessary to re-decorate before new tenants will take over. I am pleased to state that we now! have very few vacancies.

The other items in Profit and Loss Account are very similar to the previous year and do not, I think, call for any special comment from

me.

You will note from the Balance 1.Sheet that Special Repairs are again a heavy item. A large pro- portion of the expenditure during the last few years has been in- curred in

the consequence of necessity of re-laying the patent roofing to our various blocks of flats on the Island and the Main- land. Expenditure for the cur- rent year will again be fairly heavy, but as far as we can see there should then be a reduction under this heading for some time..

TYPHOON DAMAGE
