NEWS

Development results at the Ba tong-Buhay Gold Mines near Ba- gulo have been definitely encourug- ing. according to a report made recently by E. W. Berry, superin- tendent. Extracts from this re. port follow.

"The month of January has been very encouraging month at the Batong-Buhay Camp," as this month saw the discovery of several new velns, and the proving at existing veins. The dry season has started here and this enables us to prospect over the entire group..

"On Claims A-12 and GL-12" and five crosscuts have been GL-13

This vein re- made on the vein. sembles the Malinzo Vein in many respects.

"Claims A-39 and A-35 have had three crosscuts driven on the vein. The work is being done on a topr vein. Two of the foot Calcite crosscuts are in six feet, and an- other one 28 feet from portal to face. Free gold was panned on this vein.

"The present main working tun- nels, Tunnel A (the old Johnson Tunnel), and the new Tunnel B. have both been advanced a const-crosscut 13 20 feet from portal to derable distance. Tunnel A now measures 102 feet from portal to face, total footage made during January in this tunnel was 52 feet, following the Calcite Vein, Nine sets of timbers were placed during

this work.

"Fifty feet from the portal of Tunnel A in the old Johnson cross-cut a raise was driven for 20 fret to form a connection with Tunnel B. This raise is kept open as an emergency marway in case of earthquakes or slides, and also

ot greatly assists in the ventilation Tunnel Als following the soft Calcite along the vein, and every fool or the work so far shows a nice string of gold in the pan on our regular check panning.
