Magnesium is the latest metal to be brought into commercial use. In various alloy forms it is being extensively employed" when a re- duction of weight is sought by air- craft and automobile machine and, engineering concerns. A group of unwrought and partly wrought' magnesium alloys 40 per cent. lighter than aluminium la, sold: under the registered trade name of elektron. The special technique for its production has been built on supplies of the metal from Germany, as, until lately, the total consumption in this country did | not, warrant the large capital ex- penditure required for production in this country.
