A picturesque Naval Parade in which approximately 800 officers and men will participate, will take place on December 31, at 10 gab. at Happy Valley, when the-Com- mander-in-Chief, Chuna Station, Vice-Admiral Sir Charles J. Little, KOB., will carry out inspection of Naval and Royal Marines landing parties.

The Saluting point will be on the Happy Valley Recreation Ground in front of the Grand Stand, and units from the Cumberland, Dor setshire, Berwick; Hermes, Cape- town, Medway, Lowestoft, Fal- mouth. Duncan.. and the 8th Destroyer dotilla, will take part The whole will be made up into a battalion consisting of four sea man companies, one Royal Marine company and a Howitzer Battery ot four guns, landed" under the command of Captain E. A unique defence was supplied by. Mr. Leo D'Almada e Calyje tro, Jr. in a special plea for the discharge of Joseph Charles Gardner at the opening of the Criminal Sessions held before the Chief Justice. Sir Atholl MacGregor, yesterday. Gardner charged for the fraudulent conversion of a large sum of money entrusted to him by Mc. L. A. Camund, of the Union Insurance Company of Canton, for the purchase of revenue stamps.
