The Chinese detective who ar- rested the defendant next gave evidence. He stated that he went with the girl to the second de- fendant's house and it was there that Chan Chan was pointed out to him.

In giving his submission, Mr. McCallum said that he had no case to answer. The only evidence was that of the girl's, but she car- ried her virginity to such a strong point which showed an extremely shrewd person. She had an an- swer to every question.

The girl went about of her own free will and her allegations of paying money to the defendants was disproved by the fact that she repeated the Occasions of "co- habitation on several times.

The prosecution had not proved that the girl was a recognised pro- stitute, and there was absolutely no question of gain.
