~WOULD LIKE TO REMAIN HERE"

Declining to be drawn into a discussion on world politics and policies, Lord Rothermere refused to say anything on the lines of his rather startling comments made recently in Shanghai when he fore- told great trouble between Ger- many. Russia and Japan within, a year. He was not in the mood for big guns yesterday. The develop- ment of trade based on peace was his theme, and, with characteristic tenacity of purpose, he stuck to that theme. However, KC protest his earnestness for peace, and he did not, think Britain would be involved in a world war.

dia

But he well knew that an inter- view is not really an interview without some "human interest" copy, and he readily responded to a request for something about his few days in the Colony.

"I'm sorry I didn't come here before," he marked. "I've en- joved myself so much that I'd like to remain here for another month, but I feel I cannot do that at this Juncture. Will I return? I'd like to. When? That all depends. Sooner, perhaps, than even I ex- pect."

It was ascertained that, apart from a luncheon with His Ex- cellency the Governor, Lord Ro- thermnere has had more intimate. talks with servants than with mas- ters. He has ordered his car to stop at all sorts of odd spota so that he might learn from such as the foreman.of a gang of coolles something of the lives the people lead and something of their out look.
