Business during the period under review has perhaps shown rather less activity, but still quite a satis- factory trade has been done, main- ly in Philippine Gold Mining shares.

Locally the market has ruled quiet for the greater part of the week, and in some directions rates have developed an easier tendency because of "little support, but at the close there are signs of recovery and several stocks have again come into request. Sterling in- vestment shares are notably strong and there has been a substantial Improvement in the value of H.K. and S'hal Banks.
