Keel To Be Laid This Month

learn that the keel of the Navy's special surveying ship Re- ordered from search, recently Philip and Son Ltd., Dartmouth, is to be laid this month. She is de- signed to replace' and carry on the work performed by the Carnegie, an American vessel operated By the Carnegie Institution of Washing- ton, which was destroyed by fire at Samou seven years ago.
The Admiralty Hydrographic De- partment held the continuance of this work to be of such importance to navigation that they obtained authority to build the Research Her estimated cost is over £100,000. and she will take about two years to complete.
