Shanghai. Oct. 8. Following the arrest of eight men charged with rumour monger- ing yesterday, the Chinese police are searching for the organisers of the "scare gang" which has been engaged in fabricating and spread. ing alarmist reports of Sino- Japanese tension in Chapel and Hongkew in the past few days.

These reports are partly blamed for yesterday's renewed exodus of the Chinese populace, whose re- moval benefitted imported in- terests in the French Concession and elsewhere such as hotels and land'ords.
