Dutch Woman Swimmer Creates Sensation

Berlin. August 8. The Olympic decathlon was won by the American, Glen Morris, with a new world record score of 7,900 points for the ten events of the competition. Since the next two places went to American athletes, namely Clark and Parker, with scores of 7601 and 7,265, the outcome of the event was a veritable triumph for the United States, which, establishes beyond all doubt that ker all-round athletes lead the world at the present moment. The next four places went to Huber (Germany) 7,087 Brasser (Holland) 7,046 and Guhl (Switzerland) 7:033.

The former world record for the decathlon had been held by the German, Slevert with a score of 7,825 while the previous Olympic record stood at 7,398. Morris thus bettered these two marks as well as his own new world record of 7,878, which he recently set up in the United States but which had not been officially recornised-Transocean News Service.
