NEWS FROM THE WATERFRONT
Freight and Asiatic Passengers Returns
(BY LONGSHOREMAN).", The freight returns, received from the Harbour Office during the 24 hours ended at 9.00 alm. yesterday, showed 4 moderate tonnage movement.

The total tonnage of general cargo carried by vessels to the Colony was 1,759 toris, with British steamers carrying 582 tons.
"Through cargo for parts be- yond the Colony amounted to 14 301 tons, of which 1,531 tons were carried by British steamers.
Asiatic deck passengers entering into the Colony during the 24 hours ended at 9.00 a.m. yesterday wert 226, of which 105 were from British steamers.
There were altogether twelve. arrivals, of which three were of British registry, the remainder being of other nationalities; while of the 7 departures, chly one was British ship, the, rest being of other different countries.

The RMS. "Empress of Asia" arrived at Shanghai yesterday at 9.30 a.m and leaves Shanghai to-day (Tuesday) at 4 a.m. She is due at Hong Kong on the 2nd July (Thursday) at 7.00 a.m. and leaves Hong Kong for Manila on the same day at 5.00 p.m.

The B.I. and Apcar steam ship "Shirala" will leave Hong Kong For Singapore, Port Swettenham, Penang. Rangorn, and Calcutta on or about Saturday. 4th July, 1938. at 10.30 am.
The P. and C. Line's steam ship "Kidderpore left Molt for this Port on the,, 27th instant at sho p.m., and is due here or the 2nd July at about 6 p.m.
