OF LINEN
Figured crepe dresses have been worn .at Longchamp as well 4. Agured coats and tunics with plain dresses. Bighats were usual, made of straw, felt, and braid, wita feather trimmings or flowers. Fox furs are still worn. Beige and black are frequently put to- gether. Black and green are worn. as when a black dress has a green sush and a loose jacket in green veivet. Violet is a colour which is still in fashion. Navy blue and

Again, the whole dress, or coat and skirt. may be in cellophane material. With soft white lawn to make the blouse, and a hat of ostrich plumes or. algreties, this is a trim fashion."

Cioke crepe is very much used for the new long coat with flared basques and tightly buttoned front to the throat, where it meets a small high collar. Taffetas, of same substancë. is also used for tiese long coats, which go over Agured dresses, or plain dresses of another colour. White coats and Jackets are worn again, Poplin and shantung, rather than pique, are used for these. In black tat- letas, with the coat long and far- ed, buttoned close to the throat,

At the Gainsborough Ball there' were many modern satin dresses, softly printed in pale coloured flo- wers, made in clinging lines, with fullness behind to fall to the ground but not to a train. A sack coat with short full sleeves might match the dress, or a silver fox fur cap might be worn Pale blue organza is used for a dress with a full skirt and bodice with short puffed sleeves. Dresses at white crepe may be draped Greek fashion and have front panels of crystal bead embroidery. The backs of the bodices are cut yery low and wide, or they may be briefly cut a point or a sweeping half.

"CHINESE" MAKE-UP
The exotic Chinese make-up which Elizabeth Arden has just created In New York City is directly traceable to the recent Chinese Art Exhibition la Londen with its marked influence คน American fashions and caffures.
This lovely new make-up has fairly taken New York by storm, since it blends so perfectly with the quaint "coolle" hats and the . delicate Oriental blues and greens at the mandarin coats and Chinese turies so many smart New York women are wearing.
Particularly striking for brunet- tes, even blondes. And a lighter version of this make-up success- tul.
The womun with rather pro- minent cheek bones may leave of rouge ent'rely. Otherwise, the cheek bones are accentuated very ghly with volour applied high on the faces.

"ELONGATING“ THE EYES!
The eyes are cleverly elongated
by drawing a short. declicate line slightly up and out from the puter corner of each eye, A black or very dark brown eye-brow pencil does this trick. To complete the Oriental effect, the brows also are extended up and outward in graceful sweep.
