- Sliver prices were lower yester- day to the extent of 3/16 for Ready and for Forward, the quotations being 20-5/16 and 201 respectively. Silver advices Il- ported India as having bought and China sold. The fall was due to lack of support. After the official finding the market was very quiet with sellers at the Axed rate and buyers at 1/16 under the quoted sate. In America the rate; was lower at 441 for Spot.
The London New York cress- rate was unchanged at 4.97. New York (London remained al 4,97- 1/32,
MARKET
Quiet at the opening but later the market eased off owing to & fair demand.
STERLING
There were sellers after The opening at 1/3-11716, buyers, bld-On ding 1/3-23/32 but offers at 1/3- 11/16 were soon accepted for near delivery followed by transactions at 1/3 for cash and 1/3-19/32 for forward delivery. The market closed at 1 p.m. with sellers at 1/3-19/32 for May/September and 1/3 October/December, buyers at 1/3 for cash and probably 1/3-¦ 19/32 November/December.
