During the 24 hours ended`at 9am. yesterday, the freight re- turis, received from the Harbour Office. showed a considerably high tonnage. movement, a large pro- portion of which being made up by British and Japanese ships.

The Empress of Canada arrived at Shanghaf on May 19 at 12.30 p.m. and left at 7 pm She is due a: Hong Kong on May 21 at 6 p.m. and leaves Hong Kong for Manila on May 22 at 6 pm.
