Club Show Belated Form

In their last game of the season, the Hong Kong Football Club struck belated form to vanquish the East Lancs. by four goals to one, three of which were claimed by T. A. Pearce, Although not the runners-up of the Senior Division League Table, the Club may look back on a In some ways satisfying season outstanding der- formances of which were their victories over South China "A", South China "B" and the Chinese Athletic. Yesterday's game was a complete reversal of form to their Saturday's encounter when they went down to the Navy by the odd goal in fire,

In the only other game played on Saturday, the Fusiliers de- feated the B.A. Lysemun, the result being in no way a surprise. It is interesting to note that the Lyetmun side was the team that put the Club out of the running for the runners-up position by a sensational defeat some weeks ago!

"HAT TRICK”

Playing what was probably one of the last two football matches of the season the Club met the East Lanes in their first division encounter at the Club ground yes- terday and walked away with the game with the score of four goals to one.

It was a very one-sided affair, the Club showing remarkable good form, and was in fact all over a The disconnected Lancs.' team. soldiers were only able to score one goal which goal, besides being very much against the run of the game, was scored by one of the Club's de- fenders.

The Club kicked off and without a single player of the Lancs. touch- ing the ball, took it down the left wing in a fine movement of under- standing and precision and Hynes scored along the ground.

The soldiers retaliated and Hynes again scored, but this time from the other end of the field. Sand- ford shot and the ball hit the up- right and rebounded into play. On the rebound, Hynes who was on the ground put out his foot. and neatly lifted the ball over his own goalkeeper's head to equalise for the Lancs.

LEFT WING DANGEROUS Once again coe Club were off on the ext wing, which incidently was their most dangerous part of the team, and in a movement which Leasured Buckford, E. Strange and T. A Pearce, the ball was taken the soldiers' goal, and harmsworth fumbled. The ball was either pouncing on or over the Line, but no signal came from the linesman and the referee ruled that no goal had been scored.

"The Lancs, nearly took the lead through Sandford woo receiving the ball from the ett wing did not connect properly with his foot and Rodger punched clear...

During this attack the Army halves went too far up and Bick- ford received the ball, on the wing and taking advantage of this lapse, darted away and passing the ball to Pearce, who with a perfect first- timer with his left scored a beauty. This was the last goal of the match and the Club finished the winners by four goals to one."
