THE FLOWER SHOW
7.3
President Makes Appeal
The Flower Show is on Thursday
5th and Friday, 8th March. This declaration is the successor of several preceding ones all destin- ed to obviate the complaint heard year after year-Oh yes, I inlss- ed the show, but then I dün't know the date."
This year there are twe datis so it is hoped that Hong Kong flower lovers, will take out those neat little red, green or blue diar- ks presented to them by kind friend, ut Christmas and "puttee book" at once.
For the Flower Show in Hong Kong is good. To many of us it is a red letter day in the year. when we can feast our eyes on concentrated colour and beauty. Of course to those who are satis- fied with nothing less than the Chelsen Flower Show. our local effort will not
to appeal. But many it recalls the Flower Show of our country town or villages and it brings back many pleasant memories of the English country- side. One recaptures, in the "mat- shed, on Volunteer Headquarters Parade Ground the atmosphere of the big homeside marquees and the shock of mixed fragrance of flowers and fruit and vegetables.
THE ACHIEVEMENTS
Bere gardening is achieved un-, der peculiar difficultles of soft and cilmate but I have never heard dissatisfaction expressed with the ccaults as embodied by the Show! even by the most ardent film fan who sacrifices an afternoon of the movies.
In addition to fixing the date of
