Firm during the early part of the morning but later the market appeared a shade easier owing" to a better demand, particularly for forward delivery; -

STERLING :

Business was done, shortly after the opening at 1/3 13/18 for cash | followed by" transactions at -1/32 February, 1/3 11/16 March and 1/3 April Later 1/31 was also arranged for cash and 1/3 13/16 February. The market closed" at 1 pm, with sellers at 1/3 13/18 for cash, 1/3 February, 1/3 March and, 1/3 9/16 April, buyers at 1/16 higher respectively.

US, DOLLARS

A fairly large business was ar- ranged at 33 for cash, 33+ Feb- ruary and 33 for March. Later: the market appeared easter and there were buyers at 33 5/16 Yor cash. 331 February and 33 March, sellers at 1/8 lower respectively.

SHANGHAI DOLLARS Bellers were quoted at 109 for cash.
