London.
Early this year it was decided by the governing body of the Inter- national Labour Once that the next seamen's session of the liter- national Labour Conference should- be held in the autumn of next year, and that it should be preced- ed in November of this year by a tripartite preparatory technical meeting of the 24 principal mari- time countries for dealing, in ad- dition to questions of manning and hours of work on board ship, with the problem of holidays with pay for seamen.

It is now announced that the Friderun preparatory meeting has been call- ed for November 25, when each of the States taking part will have three delegates, representing, res- pectively, the Government, the SOUDAN employera and the seamen,
On October 19 and 25 extracts were published in these columns from the reports prepared by the International Labour Ofice to assist the preparatory meeting In their discussions on holidays with pay and manning, in conjunction with hours of work, respectively.
The Swedish Shipowners Asso- clation has Informed the Swedish Board of Trade that it cannot sup- port any proposal for increasing the amount of holidays for seamen allowed under existing collective agreements The Association con- siders that the question of holl- days, is already satisfactorily ar- ranged in most countries so that International regulations appear to be unnecessary.-
