The Margret Kennedy play offers the tiny Austrian actress, who was last seen by Gla faus in the title role of "Catherine the Great," her finest and most lovable role Gemtas Jones, the little waif who ir found wandering about Venice half starving and given shelter by Sebastian Sanger, 2 penniless young composer.

In the romantie atmosphere' of· the Dolomites, Sebastian develops an attachment for the little creature, who loves him. But when he meets Fenella, the beautiful aristocratic fances of his brother, Caryl, he falls madly in love with her.

Twenty years ago Baroness Orczy was asked by a ramous pubilshing house to suppy, a thrilling serial in rather a hurry. Within fifteen minutes or receiving the commis- sion she had formulated mentally the story of "The Scarlet Pimper- nel"

Originally the setting was to be Russia, but for diplomatic reasons Baroness Orczy altered li to France in the time of the re- volution. Since its first publica.. tlon the story has been a Dest seller in almost every country of the world.

Because so many popular books have been unsuccessful as films, I seized the opportunity of discuss. ng the subject with Baroness Orczy when the filming by Alexan der Korda of her famous book was almost completed.

"It seems certain to me already." she said, "that the picture will be an excellent interpretation of mis story. The amazing thing is the way that the actors and actresses have given the precise charac terisation that I visualised when i wrote the story. It has been almost uncanny to watch.

"When Mr. Korda Arst planned to produce whe Scarlet Pim- perne" he invited my advice. was glad to help in any way I could; and now I am proud of my small part in the making or a film which I confidently think will be a big success,"
