A further drop was recorded in London yesterday to the extent of 1/18 for spot, the rate being 213 but there was no Forward quota- tion. Silver advices reported Ame rica as having bought 8% of the offerings, which were estimated at 12.000.000 Ounces.

In America the official rate... dropped 2 cents to B1 for spot.

The London/New York cross- rate was slightly lower at 4.921 and the New York/London rate. was unchanged at 4.93.

MARKET

Opened steady but later sagged t, a small extent anishing on the steady side.

STERLING

Opened with sellers at 1/3 with business done at 1/3 9/18 for January delivery followed by transactions at 1/3 11/15 for cash. December and first half of Jan- uary. Later 1/31 was also done. for January delivery and 1/8 9/16 for February. Towards the close buyers were more in evidence and and offers at 1/3 were accepted for December. 1/3 was done for January and 1/3 7/18 for Feb- ruary finishing with sellers at 1/3 9/18 for December, 1/34 for Jan-. uary and probably 1/37/18 for February, buyers at 1/16 higher respectively.
