The Abyssinian Government has not yet taken up any oficial attitude towards the Franco-British proposals for settlement of the conflict with Italy. The Government's advisers are still at Dessie with the Emperor, but are expected to return to Addis Ababa at any moment

Meanwhile the Foreign Minister told.pressmen that even bo- "fore the outbreak of hostilities the Negus repeatedly emphasised that he was ready at any time for a peaceful settlement, but it Had to be honourable peace for Abyssinia, which had neither at- tacked the other nor violated agréements,

-Several members of the Government declared categorinily that the proposed exchange for Tigre could not be discussed. Furthermore they considered it certain that the Negua would re- fuse to permit Italy to explölt Abyssinia" south of the eighth parallel latitude.-Transocean Ku Miu.

FRENCH COMMENT

Paris, Dec. 15. Pertinax in the "Echo de Paris" declarea that in accepting the plan Britain at one fell swoop com- promised all the influence she had exercised with the League since last September.
