London, Nov. 21, The Exchange Market this after- noon experienced repercussions from the very severe attack of nerves
Paris which prompted perators to large scale short sel- ing.
The gullder was particularly affected and is now below gold ex- port parity in comparison with the franc.
Meanwhile doubts are entertain- ed as to whether the Radicals wil support M. Pierre Laval's Govern ment and Paris is talking of the Icssibility of a further rise in the. French bank rate.
Even with an increased bank rate, the market is by no means certain that the huge withdrawals of gold, which to-day are said to have reached a record figure. can be stopped by such a method.
a higher bank The remedy of rate was Ukened by one foreign ex- change operator to "a sip of whis- key administered to an already in toxicated man" It will have" no effect, he belleves.- Betaler.

Paris, Nov 21. For the second time within a week, the Bank of France has ita discount rate raised
by one per cent on Thursday in an at- tempt to check the outflow of gold,, which has again been assuming an alarming proportion recently. Rate which was increased from three to four per cent. on Nov. 14' now stands at five per cent. It is hoped in financial circles this will prove sufficient to "discourage the activities, of bearish specula-
tors and devaluationists.--- Transocean Kuo Min.
