All-Round Rise In Prices

(Special Air Mail Service)

-London, Oct. 23. Week-end developments in the foreign political situation acted as a strong tonio for the Stock Mar kete. Under the load of Gilt-edged. securities prices' opened materially higher, the rise extending to prac tically every department. The early improvement was due largely to hurried "bear" covering. It was $950 not followed by any marked gen-

eral increase of buying by the pub-- 3670lia, and as a consequence after the Arst hour prices in a number of department showed a tendency to ease. The extent of the reaction, however, was small compared with tho rise that preceded it, and for the most part markets closed with. a steady appearance.
