HONG KONG RIFLE

ASSOCIATION

Spoon And Practice Shoot

по

At the Spoon' and Practice Shoot held by the Association on - Wednesday afternoon, on the Army Ranges at Kowloon City. Lance-Corporal Gooch, of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps, again demonstrated what can be accomplished with the rifle "as Issued," when he put up a score of no less than 92 points out of a "highest possible" of 105. This aggregate is less by three points than the

total score made by him last week, but it must not be forgotten that,

the present occasion, the light was becoming rapidly worse as he finish- ed shooting. The fact that his score was only one point less than the highest made by others who were using the perture sight and sling, shows, beyond question, that this" N.C.O. pos- sesses, to an unusual degree, that expert knowledge of his own weapon, which is the aim of all good riflemen, and that, “with- out doubt, he is the best "Bervice" shot in the Association to- day.

On Wednesday afternoon next, the Association is holding the third of its Invitation shoots, when 1 match. will rake place between the Royal NAVY. Royal Engi- neers, battalions of Infantry, the Royal Army Ordnance Corps, Volunteers and Police. Conditions are that teams shall consist of six members of the un't, who are also members of the H.KR.A., that the rides to be used are those "as issued "; that the conditions of shooting shall be a's for the 1st stage of the King's, and that dress shall be optional. Concurrently with this event the ordinary S.R. (a) Spoon Shoot will take place, and it is anticipated that a large number of members will take part "In these two concurrent events. apart from those who wish to

compete for the SR. (b) Spoons

Behind the scenes in Soccer they are still considering the proposed boycott by. Jewish football follow- ers of the England v. Germany match-on-Tottenham Hotspur's ground on Dec. 4.

Judging by conversations,

have had with various officials, there is little kelihood of the Football Association being rushed into any hasty action,

There seems no inclination to in-

terfere with the plans made for the game. However, there is little doubt that the protest actually made to the FA will come before the International Selection Com-

mittee.

In any case, there is little kell- hood of the gate being hit by a Jewish boycott. While the Spurs have a large Jewish following, the match goes far beyond the bounds of North London in its appeal.

As a matter of fact applications for tickets are coming in from all parts of the country.

RACES AND A RACE Meantime, Germany's assurances that there is no bias in her na tional sport look rather weak in face of the action taken idilowing the victory of the Jewish-owned Athanasius in this year's "Brown Ribbon" race
