Eleven months ago the Cunard White Star Liner, the

Clyde by Her Majesty Mary, but another nine months' hard and incessant work remains to be done before this ship-the greatest in the world-will be ready to leave the Atting-out basin of her builders in Clydebank for Southampton. Four thousand skilled workmen are engaged in perfecting the vessel itself, while many thousands are working on ber equipment and fittings. The main task that has been occupying these weh up to the present has been the installation of the mas Bive machinery and auxillary equipment, many of the parts weighing as much as two hundred tons.

BOILERS IN POSITION
The height of the two immense steel masts is about 234 feet above the keel of the ship. while the height or the forward funnel is 180 feet. The twenty-seven enor mous boilers are now in position. The magnificent engine appara- tus and basic construction are not ine only features of the ship upon which attention-has been centred; the passenger accommodation has been worked out with equal skill and care. Work has already begun on equipping the many hundreds of state-rSOME; The twenty-five public rooms are to be extremely large and the first-class dining room, which is claimed to be the largest room of its kind on a ship. will hold 900 passengers. The two gigantic swimming pools are to be resplendent with marble. The en- closed promenade deck measures approximately 1,250 feet in length. Every conceivable convenience is to be provided; there is even to be a cinemo and a model railway' in the........ children's.....play-rooms. This glorious ship--perhaps the most marvellous example of modern construction-will have à total weight of 73,000 tons.
