V * London, October 11.
In accordance with the League Assembly's decision to Institute collective measures, against Italy, the first meeting was held this morning of the Co-ordinating Committee comprising representatives of all League members except the two disputants and the two states, Austria and Hungary, which expressed dis- sent from the findings of the League Council.
The public proceedings were very brief. Senor de Vascon- cellos, Portugal, was elected President and at once- suggested that the meetings of the Committee should be private. Dr. Benes supported, adding that, as the Committee's negotiations
·would be as between government "and government, privacy was essential. The minutes of the, Committee will be published and full communiques issued to the Press.
A sub-committee of sixteen was set up and it will meet this afternoon when it is understood Mr. Anthony Eden will move a resolution recommending the raising of the embargo on export of arma to Abyssinia. Later in the evening there will be a further meeting of the full Co-ordinating Committee when it is expected in Geneva that the lifting of the arms embargo will - be confirmed and that this first practical step against Italy will
come into operation immediately-British Wireless.
