The other company is the Wil- Hamson-Buchanan Steamers, Ltd. whose fleet consists of the turbine steamers Queen Mary II, and King Edward, and the paddle steamers Eagle III. A CLYDE SHIPPING PIONEER
It is interesting to recall at this time when the fleet is changing hands now it originated and ts association with Mr. John Wii- liamson, who, was regarded as having laid the foundations for turbine propuls on for marine purposes.
Mr. Willamson belonged to a family who was closely associated for two generations with steam: boat services on the River Clyde. Ultimately he acquired, vessels of his own, and for a considerable time he and two brothers were in control of three different lines, he his own steamers and each of his brothers with the railway fleet. Mr. Williamson died in 1923.
His steamer, the King Edward, was the first commercial turbine propelled vessel, following on the experiments carried out on the Tyne by Sir Charles Parsons, with a small vessel.

which makes the Swastika -the commercial, as well as the official, emblem of Germany, German ships will in future carry the 'Swasakų as the ensign at the stern instead of, as has been the practice hither- to, the black-white-red flag at the stern and the Swastika in the bows.
It is reported from Bremerhaven that the first incoming ship to show the Swastika in, the stern after the enactment of the law was the Norddeutscher Lloyd Uner Columbus, which reached that port this morning from New York
At midday the Swastika flag was ceremonially hoisted in the Ham- burg-America liner Hamburg, nów in Hamburg harbour. The crew were mustered aft, and in the pre- sence of directors of the line and
