During the week under review a better tone developed and prices generally have hardened; in some cases an appreciable rise can be recorded. Last week Lands closed at $23 and at the close to-day buyers are offering $24.75 with possible small sellers at $25. Trams also are wanted at $11.10 and Electrics at $521. Telephones weakened on small quidation but have ready buyers at $173 with shares offer- ing at $18. On the whole it would appear there is a general change of sentiment and investors are again coming into the market.

Silver price rose 1/16 yesterday for both deliveries, the quotations being 29 for Ready and Forward. Advices received reported America as having bought. China sold. The market was steady. After the off- clal fixing the market was armer and business was reported at 1/16 over the quoted rates.

In America the rate was. un changed at 651 for spot.
