LOCAL SOCCER
Lincolns "A" Win Tournament.
Some very interesting soccer, was witnessed at Scokunpoo yesterday when the third round of the six- aside football was played off. The South China "A" team had very bad luck in ant getting to the final as they lost to the Lincolns "A" by a corner.
The first match of the afternoon was that, between the E.K. Club "C" and E. Lancs. "B" which the Club Icst by 2 goals to nil. The Lincolns "D" he no trouble in ac- | counting for the Club "D". beating them by the wide margine of 5 goals to 1.
· S. CHINA "A" WIN "A good game was witnessed when the S. China "A" beat the Club "A" by 4 goals to mil. The score does not indicate that the Chinese had it all their own way, for the Club did quite a good bit of prasa- ing but their forwards could not, get through the S. China defence. On the other hand the Chinese forwards were very nippy and made good use of every opportunity.
By virtue of their win over the "B" team the South China "A" met the Lincolns "A" in the semi-final of the afternoon. It was a very even game as a full time came with
the score at 2 all the Lincolns won by virtue of the only corner they forced...
THE FINAL
As was expected the final match between the E. Lancs “A” and the
Lincolns "A" was the most exciting of the afternoon. For the first couple of minutes the exchanges were even. Lincolns then made a successful raid and Harnsworth handled in the penalty area, and Edmondson made no mistake with the resultant kick. A minute later Riding had a glorious opportunity to store but he tripped and was
robbed.

Throughout the game snatches of good and thrilling play was seen with the Americans ever in the limelight by thel rairtight fielding,
The Americans led at the end of the 4th innings by 5 runs to four, having nitched four in the third stanza, The Chinese retallated with a single on the 5th and Jou- bert crowned his play by sending the pill for a four bagger to bring Howard home, thus regaining the lead again by two runs. The Chin- ese came back on the 6th innings with a single with the Americans being blanked out. Excitement was intense when the 7th innings was started. With a slender lead of one run the Americans sent" the
Chinese in to bat and good work by Joubert once again was res- ponsible for the Chinese returning a blank. score...
