The price for Ready silver was unchanged yesterday at 29 3/16 but the forward price was slight- ly lower at 291. Silver advices re- ported the American Government having bought. India operated both хауби China sold. After the official Axing the market was firmer owing to speculative buy- ing, and to absence of sellers.

In America the rate was un- changed at 65% for spot.

The London/New York cross- rate was lower at 4.921 and the New York/London rate was also lower at 4.91.

Sterling There were sellers after the opening at 2/01, buyers bidding 2/1. A small business was done at 2/0 15/16 for near and forward followed later by a couple of transactions at 2/1 for November delivery. The market closed with sellers at 2/0 15/18 for 8Septem- ber/December, buyers at 2/1 September/December.
