"There is a varied display of coat-frocks, in tweed, jersey tweed and a new jersey bouclette. This is a type of frock that may be regarded as a new style in tailor- ed dress lines with skirts which are shorter than mid-calf level closed or buttoned cu straight and diagonal slim skirted widths. Tops remain open down the centre front over contrasting coloured," pastel and off-white blouses most of which are made from a new ribbed material

Hats to go with these frocks match in fabric or felt and take a Jaunty "Abine" line of elongat ed form jutting forward and crushed up at the back.

New fabrics, · colour .contrasts and a wealth of detail will make everyone, take notice of the fo minine outline this coming sea- son. Marcel Rochas tells you that he has not turned over page upco page of deep literature, in search of styles from past epochs, but certain detalls assume notes from the past in "Tol-de-solell" sunray belt buckles, coronets, acorns and engraved shield clips fcr motifs... of white on black. belt of stiff cellophane and black rooster with a scarlet comb "embossed across the front. This single touch of scarlet is the only colour contrast for an all black ensemble, and the comb motif has been taken also to border the coat Dutilhe. A similar detall is also extended to collar lines of black velvet on mat cloth coat and cape lines.

Colours chosen by Rochas for his new tailored closed Jacket.suits are fascinating, with capes of half-length jaunty coats to com- plete them. These match skirts that are either plain for wear with fancy lainage jackets or two- colour striped effects may em phasise those of one platn colour such as deep ratsin red above rais in red and light blue boucletts striped lainage,

A navy blue woollen slack coal on the other hand reveals a slate blue and garnet checked Jacket belted with gämnet red match to " a crush "Alpine" felt hat.

Gobelin blue and other blues as well as "Old Master" greens are used also for those jacket suits which may be substituted for dresses from time to time. When this occurs new interest is brought to tops through contrasts being displayed in fronts slightly, ga-1 thered on to short squard yokes of the darker colour. The idea breaks away from severe tailored bodices and has a bloused aspect.. Silk volls is chosen as a mediuin for these blouses that usually have long sleeves of plisse type and high neck-lines. Colours may change to shades of petunia and garnet red with cerise or sapphire coloured beltlines.
