British Industry To Co-operate
London, June 11.
Iron The British
and Steel Federation in a statement regard- ing the conference with the In- ternational Steel Cartel held in Luxemburg on June 4th says that the British. Delegation consisted of ten-members representing vari- ous sectional interests led by the President, Lord Dudley and the Chairman of the British Delega-
on at the conference." - The various heads of the agree- the co- ment were settled for operation of the British industry
with the International Steel Cartel at the expiry of the present tem- porary agreement on August 8th next.

By the terms of this agreement which is for five years with a break at three years at the instance of either party on giving six months previous notice, imports into the British market from "cartel coun- tries of all iron and steel products coming within the purview of the federation shall not exceed .670, 000 tous during first twelve months. In each subsequent year during the fe cf the agreement. imports shall not exceed 525,000 toas per annum. The agreement also secures for the British Indus- try that proportion et total "ex- port prade in neutral markets which it enjoyed in 1934.
The existing international agree- ments in which the British in- dustry is" participating, covering rails, tinplates etc., form the integral part of general agreement, To give effect to a general agree- ment & number of subsidiary agreements will be necessary 'In- volving negotiations between the various sections on countries in the cartel. These negotiations are proceeding and will be pursued unremittingly until completed. The statement adds that the "Import- ance of comprehensive co-opera- tion between such basic Industries on a world wide scale can hardly »be exaggerated and in effect it is calculated to have an increasing economic stability in the parti- cipating countries and thus con- tributing substantially to the res-
