Mess G. A. Harriman & Co's weekly share report and market Saturday review issued at noon on

The market improved semewhat after May Settlement with rates in some sections marked up to a certain degree but business was In- quiet and the volume small vestment counters recovered some- what from last week's new low levels. Hong Kong Tram changed hands at the improved rate of $12.50/55 and Telephones" (old) at $18/19). Hong Kong Electrics opened with sales at $55 but 1st- terly rose to a buying rate of $57 at the close. Hong Kong Lands were a shade better with transac- tions done at $301/31, Star Ferries, however, were stil easy with sellers at $75 and wharves (cr.) at $82. Apart from Cements which were stul on offer at $5.60, minor issues were slightly better with China Lights done up to $8.05 and Hotels to 4.15. Providents (old) had en- lies at 75 cents. In the mining section Raubs came into promin ence and were enquired for at $5 at the close. Sterling.counters re- mained more or less unchanged. Business was done at 60-1/4 for Hong Kong Banks continued in de- mear, 60-5/16 for July and 80-3/3 mand at around $100 and Unions for second half of July and Au-at $330. The tone of the market gust. Towards the close business was reported at 60-1/8 for cash. The market closed with sellers at 60-1/16 for June, 80-5/16 for July. buyers at 60-3/16 for Jane 80-5/16 for July.

Business was done during the course of the morning at 2/5-5/18 second half of June, last week of July and 2/5-3/8 July. A small
