Silver prices rose yesterday to the extent of 15/16 for near and a penny for forward, the quota- tions being 34 11/16 and 34 15/18 respectively, Speculators bought India and China operated both ways. The market was steady at the close and business was done 1/16 under the quoted rates. In America the rate was higher at 76 for spot.

The New York/London cross- rate was quoted at 1824. and the London/New York at 4907.
