ABLE AMAZON LOSES: STRATHNAIRN
PAYS BACKERS WELL
Something in the nature of a sensation was provided racing enthusiasts on Saturday when Mr. Donald Black scored a magnificent win on Strathnairn to pay its backers the handsome dividend of $284.01. That, however, was not all the thrills to` be had for there was plenty more in store when Bag Tor finished ahead of the formid. able. Able Amazon, which, it will be recalled, was debarted from the betting.
Due to the upset caused by Strathnairn, no one was fortunate enough to win the Daily Double with the result that the pool for this event will be carried over to the meeting on June 1:
Shooting Star, with Mr. Pih on the saddle, broke the record for the five fure. longs while the most successful jockey for the day was Mr. Black who scored three wius. Fiy
