Hong Kong Football Club Hold Annual Dinner

SIR HENRY POLLOCK PRESIDES

The annual dinner and dance of the Hong Kong Football Club was held at the Hong Kong Hotel on Saturday when over 80 members and guests were present. The Hon. Sir Henry Pollock presided and among the guests were Mr. M. K. Lo, seator Vice President of the Hong Kong Football Association, Comdr. T. A. Hussey, the Services' Vice-President, Mr. T. A. Mitchell, another Vice-President, Comdr. D. Orr-Ewing, the Navy Bugby represents- tive. Captain E. Hague, the Army Football representative, and Lt. Rice-Evans, representing Army Rugby.

Alter proposing the toast of "The tower of strength, and has given King," the President said.:

many remarkably fine exhibitions of talented play. I need hardly say how sorry we are as a Club to lose such an outstanding exponent of the game, and he takes with him our best wishes for a happy and successful sojourn in the northera port.

"Before I proceed with the plea sant duty delegated to me of pro- posing the toast of our guests, I wish to make a few observations on the activities and welfare of the Club. This is one of the few occa- slon's when members and their friends foregather in such numbers for social intercourse and it is, I think, a suitable opportunity to survey briefly the past season and give expression to our hopes for the future!

The nature of to-night's function marks a departure from the usual; routine of the annual dinner, and I think the Committee are to be commended for

their enterprise.

THE JUNIOR TEAM

The second XI. have also made dennite progress, as witness their advance from the usual lowly rung in the League table to almost half way up the ladder. My previous remarks with regard to encouraging the younger players apply, and they deserve all the support we can give. I cannot conclude my review of
