Nanking, Mar, 29,
A number of requests for frants from the Belgian Boxer Indemnity
Funds "to medical institutions in China were approved by the Health. Affairs Committee of the Sino-" Belgian Commission at a Commit- tee meeting held here yesterday. The meeting which was presided over by Dr. P. Z. King, deputy- director of the National Health Administration, was attended by Dr. Chu Min-YI, Mr. Tseng Chung- Chlen, Mr. Wang Shih- Tseh, and Mr. Wel Shih-Chih
After examining the nature of the application," the Committee de- cided to appropriaté a grant of $10,000 to the Makanshan Sanitar- ium and Mr. Chin Pac-Shan was appointed to make an 'inspection of that institution. The grant will not be paid over until the report received by Dr. King shows condi- tions there to be satisfactory.
Concerning the request of the Faculte de Pharmacie de l'Univer site Franco-Chinoise for a grant of $40,000 as a foundation fund, the Committee decided that the grant would be appropriated after the Committee finds the report sub- mitted by the College as to the ways of using, the fund satisfac- tory.
A grant of $20,000 was approved by the Committee for the Nanking People's Maternity Hospital, to construct, a Sino-Belgian memorial buliding.
Radium Supplies Another grant of (American) $40,000, as requested by the "Min- istries of Education and Interior, for the building of Public Mater- nity Hospitals in various parts of China was approved. It was.de- (American) $40,000 cided that
bonds will be appropriated as a foundation fund, the interest of which is to be used for the build- ing of such hospitals at places to be selected by the Commission.
