"Does she know who I am?" the Duke asked Benvenuto, still eyeing Angela as his desire for her increased,
"I told her that you were but one of the Court, Excellency."
Good! Then the great admiration you say she has for me is not because I am the Duke?"
"No, your Excellency, her great admiration for you is due to her realization of your vigorous and irresistible charms!"

JAPAN'S NEED
OF AVIATORS
Civil Air Services To Be Expanded
Tokyo, February 28 Expansion of civil aviation for the purpose of preparing adequate cadres of military aviators was urged in the House of Peers, to- day by Baron Michitomo Iwakura. While it is easy to increase the number of Japan's air defence units, Baron Iwakura said, 1 is extremely dificult to train the needed personnel.

Tokonami. Minister of BI. T Communications, acknowledged the slow progress of the nation's civil aviation but pleaded lack of sufficient funds. Much aèrial pro- gress has lately taken place in Siberta, China and the South Seas, and Japan muts not be left be hind In the development of her aviation Mr. Tokonami added.
The Minister of Communications expressed, regret over the small appropriation for civil aviation made in the 1935-36 budget, but said that the Government was playing full attention to the ques tion. Mr. Tokonami added that at least Y.200.000.000 was needed to expand civil air services.
The Government's plans for the air extension of the existing routes were described in detail by Mr. N. Kataoko, Director of the Bureau of Aeronautics of the Communications Ministry. Among the routes to be opened.. soon, he said, were those 10 Hokkaido, Saghallen, Korea, Formosa and Manchuria.
