Referees were under discussion, One of the company, a club chair- man, said "It's very easy to think a referee has done badly when all the time you are judging" badly— and with bias." The chairman then told a story.

In the Second Division Bolton should have no dificulty in defeating Port Vale, and Brentford should win at home, but West Ham may have to be content with sharing the spoils at New- castle.

Tranmere should add two points 'st Walsall's expense, and Chester will probably take a step forward over Doncaster's heads..

Charlton and Reading playing at home should register wins but Watford may be held at Bournemouth;
