KING'S WARDEN REDEEMS

Ribble & Great Hall Pay $114 For Daily Double

Bobniak Star In Great Trim

(BY MORNING" DEW .")

The final race meeting of the season is over. Soldier of Bri- "tain proved himself a great pony when he led all the way home in the Autumn Champions, while Cavalcade and Able Amazon accounted for their respective races.

In the remainder of the programme, King's Warden proved a surprise packet when he turned the tables on Hetman and Cos- sack's Beauty in a mile race, registering the fast time of 1.59,1 Great Hall and Ribble were responsible for the events which counted in the "Dally Double” and those who were lucky enough to back this combination won $114.40 each. Great Hall paid just over 10-1 for a win.

In the novien's event, Mr. F. F. Li added one more win to his list when he brought Delightful Chance home in front of Soldier of Fortune and Little Beauty.

King's Warden, one of the best griffins of this year, left it for the last race meeting of the season to score his first win. He did it in stylish manner too, accounting for some "A" class ponies in the pro- cess. The mile race took him only

a fraction over 1.58 seconds and the last quarter was 28.41

Hetman led the field followed by Cossack's Beauty with Brillant Star, King's Warden and High »Speed, well up. Hetman led into

the "straight,

Cossack's when Beauty took the lead, hotly pursued by King's Warden, who, showing a great burst of speed won by a "Tength Hetman was third and Brilliant Star, who had had enough after the first six furlongs, fourth. High Speed was outclassed.

Hall, while Young Chap, who chose to dispute the lead with Classic Hall in the carly stages of the race, had to be place.

Able Amazon. The Australian champions fell to Able Amazon who won as he liked from Racing Heart and Night Star in a fast race. "Butler kept his mount well in hand while Night Star went out to crack the pace. There was not much of a race once able Amazon shifted up with the field. The fight for second place found Australian Boy, who had been well up most of the way, wanting in the home straight. Just That also found the distance too much for him, and these two were unplaced.

The latter than began to bore out and lost all chances of winning, though he was far enough in front to retain second place Dinty finished third, while Bobniak Star, putting in a brillant last quarter, won by four lengths.

The Automa Champions' Soldier of Britain and Sadko got away together in front of King's Justice, in the Autumn Champions, and taking advantage of this, Deltz sent his mount over the first quarter in 27.4" and kept in front all the way followed about two lengths behind by King's Justice, who was again two lengths in front of Sadko." The three pontes kept the same order all the way round although the distances be- tween the poles were considerably reduced at the top of the straight, but in the run höme (which took 31.4) Soldier of Britain held his own and warded off both his chal- lengers. Sadko ran a very game race, but the earlier pace, proved too much for him, and he was un- able to produce that spectacular Onish that he generally showed, up the home straight.

Ribble's Easy Win Although Ribble won by a short head from Monoplane who was again only a short head in front of Valorous, yet those who followed the race closely know that Ribble won easily. The pony was content to trail the field in the Brst half mile. after which Mr. Botelho brought him right through the field so that he led into the straight with Monoplane and Valorous, 'The three made a good race of it, but Mr. Botelho on Ribble was so con- fident that he only made a big effort a hundred yards from home,') and the papy responded at once, to provide him with a win. Valor- ous faltered a few yards from home, allowing Monoplane to take second place by a short head.
