Early advices indicated sellers of Sterling at 1/4 7/16 but sub- sequently the market gradually firmed up and towards the close 1/4 9/16 was on offer for near, buyers probably at 1/16 higher. Dollars, sellers were quoted at the opening at 33 7/8 but later the market gradually rose and towards the close sellers were reported at 34 1/8 for near, buyers at 1/16 higher respectively. The tone was firm for near delivery.
