ITALY SLACKENS SCRAPPING

Ship scrapping in Italy has blackened. The scrapping of ob- selete ships in Italy has slackened due, among other causes, to the following: (1) the least efficient Italian vessel amounting to a total of about 800,000 tons have already been scrapped, (2) the increase in the prices of vessels for scrapping on the international market, in consequence of the institution of navigation premiums abroad, (3) and the low price reached for scrap because of Icreign competition

INCREASED REPAIR FACILITIES Increasing their facilities for the repair of vessels at Baltimore, the Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corpora- tion has installed a new. 8,000-ton floating, drydock, which replaces one of the wet basins in the upper yard of the Key Highway plant. With the new plece of equipment the Bethlehem plant is how cap able of drydocking three vessels simultaneously. Previously operation were a 8.000-ton oating dock and 10,000-ton graving dock. At their Sparrows Point plant the corporation maintains a floating drydock of 20,000 tons capacity.

The 25th Red Army who had gone to Anhwei several months ago have recently penetrated Inlo Horan to create disturbances again. The 47th division, the 54th division, and the 11th Route Army are pur- suing them in order to suppress them. A large group of Com- munist bandits are also reported to have come into south Honar from Hupeh. Several hsiens or districts of south Honan have telegraphed the local military authorities to despatch troops there,

The 118th Brigade, formerly Gen. Sun Tien Ying's army which has so far stayed at Hsuchang in cen- tral Honan, has been ordered to move towards Klangsi to suppress the Communists. The 61st Division which has been stationed at Hsun- teh in southern Chihli has been ordered to move to Chengchow and Isuchang. It may be interesting to mention here that nearly all the so-called "various coloured army" has been ordered to move away from Honan ́to Klangsi to suppress the Reds.
