New York, Oct. 3. The American Oriental Finance Corporation's report through their New York agents, Messrs. H. A. Pierce & Co. states:-

Stacks. It is impossible to draw any definite conclusions from a market like to-day's, but evidently there is no particular liquidation hanging over the market and, to that extent, the situation seems to be satisfactory.

New River Steamer

It was learnt fn Shangfal yes- terday that at the Talkoo Dock-at. Hong Kong the keal for a new Yangtze river boat is on the point of being laid down. Particulars of the new vessel, are not as yet known. The new boat is part of the development scheme for keep- ing the China Navigation' fleet up-to-date. Two former river- boats of the company the ss. Po- yang and sa. Shuntien I have al- ready been sold.

Philoctetes Salls To-day

The Blue Funnel. passenger and cargo liner ss.. Philocetes, which is berthed at Holt's Wharf, salls at 2 p.m. to-day for Casablanca, Lon- don, Rotterdam, Hamberg, and Hull, via Suez and ports. The s Philoctetes connects at Singapore with the Bandoeng-Amsterdam air mail service, Letters despatch- ed by this route are scheduled in London on October 17.

London, Sept. 15. Alex Wright, Charlton Athletic's Scottish goalkeeper, who was in- jured in diving from a raft into shallow water at Torre Abbey sands on Thursday, died in hospital at Torquay.yesterday. His mother and sister, travelling all night from Glasgow, reached the hospital Iten minutes before he died.

Wright was bathing with other members of the Charlton team. His spine was fractured near the neck. The previous day he had played for bis team against Tor quay United.
