Sterling opened at 1/4 15/16 for near and 1/5 forward and the market was maintained at this level throughout the morning. Dollars were quoted at 35 for near and 35 7/16 for forward. Later the market was 1/8 down but Armed up at this stage to 35 5/16. 35 and to 35 7/16 for near delivery, forward rates a fraction higher.

Silver Stocks as per advices of 5th instant estimated at Tls, 333,- 973,000 as against Tis. 349015.000 a year ago.
