C. Garthwalte and A. C. 1. Bowker acquitted themselves very creditably with the bat and ball respectively.
Fearce's XI. had first use of the wicket and they were soon in difficulties, losing 3 wickets for 28
runs.
Then Garthwaite and Owen Hughes got together and batting solidly, they put a stop to the rot and it was not until the score had reached 78 that they were separat- ed-Garthwalte

Owen Hughes again showed good form and it may be taken for. granted that he will again lead the Hong Kong team. So far as the bowlers were concerned Pereira and Minu both bowled well but Lady Luck did not smile on them. The former, together with Bowker. would make an excellent "shack combination" but as for Minu he is not so certain of a place since Elvin, the other left-hand bowlers is showing excellent form at pre- sent.
ANOTHER BAD START
After Pearce's side had been dismissed for 113 runs, Hayward sent Mackay and Harley out to open the innings for his side. Garthwalte and Ricketts opened the bowling and soon the score board showed that 5 wickets had fallen for 36 runs. Bowker was given a spell with the ball and sent down seven very useful overs, four
