African Eve Has Easy Win
Although the attendance at the race meeting held at Ma- cao yesterday was comparatively small, yet there was plenty of exaltement in the programme of six races. Fields were on the a couple of upsets dividends were smali skle, but thanks to fairly tempting.
The biggest return of the day was provided by Capt. Jor dan, who, riding Festival Eve, came home a short head in front of the favourite, Vago, ridden by Mr. Norman Deits

Hong Kong Lose Again
Shanghai, Sept. winning the last two heads when the position seemed hope- less, Shanghai made a clean sweep of the interport bowls with Hong- Kong by their third victory to- day the score being 22-21
There was a large attendence in bright and sunny weather when Hong Kong turned out the same team as in the previous games.
Hong Kong opened with a single. Shanghai replied with 3, obtained through a smash by Jensen, the Shanghai skip.
In the fth head Shanghai led by 5 shots to 3, but Hong Kong rallied and a 3 shot saw them 'in the lead on the next head.

After three furlongs Pat slipped back and African Eve was quickly sent up. He took the lead at the head of the straight and won by three lengths from Pat, who came along with a big rush at the An- ish Mouche was third.
Botelho Wins
The second race found only three starters. viz, Gold Currency (P. P. Botelho), Great Hall (S. N. Pan) and Fair View (8. Y. Laing). They kept in that order all the way over the six furlongs, there Arst being five lengths between and second and a similar distance between second and third.
The race may be described as a "personal triumph for Botelho, who, springing into a lead at the start, kept his mount going all the way.

The start of the mafoos' left much to be desired. Black Velvet being left at the post, and Hey Tor about four lengths be- hind Bold Commander and Chow Fan who were early on the move. Black Velvet never had a look in. but Hey Tor made "a big effort srid managed to lead into the straight. The early effort, how- ever, took its toll when Chow Fan offered a challenge in the home straight. Hey Tor was beaten by three quarters of a length, while Bold. Commander Anished thiru three lengths behind. Black Vel vět managed tourth place. The winner paid $48.20 10. gupasss(ul· punters.
Another Upset Another upset was in store for punters, for in the fourth race Festival Eve (with Captain Jordan in the saddle accounted for field of six, to pay his supporters $51 each.
Vago (Mr. Deitz) set the pace, and with a gap of three lengtha between him and the rest of the field at the head of the straight he seemed a sure winner. How ever once into the straight Fes- tival Eve showed a great burst of pace and in an exciting finish, won by a short head. Bhaughran was third.

The Hong Kong Chinese Civ Servants' Swimming Club are holding their second swimming gala of the season next Saturday night commencing at 7 pm, and have arranged a very attractive programme.
