Stocks-News of the strike. showing that the situation is more serious than had been anticipated, served to unsettle the entire structure at the market. ever, so far, this seems to be more of £ temporary situation than anything else. Business
done: 590,000 shares..
Wheat:-The market is a one- sided affair, with bull sentiment unanimous. The only pressure is ́from ` proft-taking and hedging. Receipts are large. The continued hot weather in the South-West is off-setting the beneficial rains in the Corn Belt. Offerings were a little more free. Wheat statistics are Bullish.
Cotton:-Early on the market reached the highest prices so far. There was some long realising, to- gether with some Southern scat- tered sales. The action taken by securities was chledy responsible for a large part of the selling Buying was speculative and there was also some "Trade buying in order to fx prices. Worth Street reported the highest price for the season for Cotton goods, The weather continues to be unfavour- able.

Silver:--The market has ruled
dull.
Rubber: The market was quiet but frm and we continue to ad- vise purchases on easy spots.
Wheat:-The sentiment is still bullish, with the only pressure small profit-taking and hedging. Hot weather in the South-West is off-setting the beneficial rains in the Corn Belt. We continue to recommend purchases on minor set-backs:

Opening rates sellers 1/5 15/16, later 1/5 31/32.. leading to a small business at 1/ 1/32 for September and also 1/8 for the same month. The market subsequently steadied to 175 15/18 sellers. 1/5 31/32 buy-. ers for July.
"U.S. Dollars. Nothing doing-sellers, 37 11/16 July, 37 13/16 buyers, but 373 could have been placed at various times.

IN THE AFTERNOON Late afternoon orders resulted in sonde business-Sterling was done at 1/5 31/82 for August, and 1/5 15/18 for July, and Dollars 37 11/16 for near. The market for July, closed with Sterling sellers at 175 29/32 and Dollars at 371. buyers bidding 1/5 31/32 and 37 13/16 but middle rates would probably have led to business.
Shanghal Market Business done at 1/4 3/16, and 34 with sellers at the rates.
