WEEKLY REPORT

The most substantial rise in the market during the past week has been in Banks and Unions, due, as has been previously point ed out in these Summaries, to the fall in sterling exchange. Another feature during the period is the rapid advanse in Ewas, which | made a rather spectacular recovery

The rest of from $10 to 8114. the market cannot be said to have been very active, although the Utilities section remained in steady demand throughout the week.

The A. 0. F. Corp, bas received the following report from their New York correspondenta, E. A. Pierce & Co. We think that the market look a little better; at least, it seemed as though buying became a trifle more confident, although no fresh factors have appeared. However, the volume has not materially increased on the down-side and, quite possibly; the present decline has about run its course.

Wheat: Further moisture in the South-West scattered showers in the North-West and a forecast of probable showers in all States has taken the edge off the dry-weather market. Lack of deliveries keeps May position ...relatively firms,

Cotton: There is no particular news and the market is a quiet affair. Spot houses bought, which baying is believed to represent the lifting of hedges against sales of actual cotton to China.

Silver: The market is generally nervous, being affected by moderate orders either way, interest still being shown regarding possible develop. ment at Washington.
