Glorious weather favoured the official opening of the Hong- Bowls League on Saturday, when no fewer than kong Lawn nine matches were played in both the Senior and Junior Divi- registered, the Civil Service sions. Several surprises were Juniors causing a mild sensation by easily beating the Craigen- gower C.C.. last year's champions, while the newly formed Crai rengower "B" team surprised a very strong Kowloon Docks team by the comfortable margin of 13 shots.

The Kowloon Bowling Green Club, last year's champions in the Senior Division, started prominently by beating what was considered one of the strongest contenders this season, the Kow- loon C.C., while the Poilee were surprisingly beaten by the Club de Recreio.
